C'mon, Mom. It's HUMONGOUS!

We love our boys. I have been thinking a lot about them and their unique qualities, and all the fun we've had watching them grow. I know it's not right to compare our kids, but just this once, I can't help myself- can you tell they are brothers?

Kaeleb age 5 1/2 mo.
Brennan 4 3/4 mo.
Kaeleb 6 mo.

Brennan 4 3/4 mo.

Sometimes I see so much Kaeleb in Bren, but they definitley have their own looks and personalities, too. They have a different head shape and skin tone.

We are in the process of teaching Kaeleb to be a little more independent. He definitely wants to be independent in the choices he makes and can be strong willed, but when it comes to dressing himself, he gets lazy and wants Mama to do it for him. Going potty has been a challenge since the baby was born, because although he has been potty trained for a year, he thinks he can't pull his pants up by himself. He says "I can't get my underpants over the humps of my bum."

We were discussing the matter on Tuesday. I said, "You know Kaeleb, they won't let you go to preschool if you can't go potty all on your own." He said, "Well, I'll just pee my pants then." Getting frustrated, I said, "Then they'll send you home and I will put a diaper on you because you will be a baby, not a big boy." To which he replied, "No you won't, I'm too big for diapers." I said "I have diapers that will fit you just fine." His response-"No, you don't. Look at my butt Mom. It's HUGE." I cracked up laughing and said, "Actually, your bum is quite tiny and very cute." He grabbed his little buttcheek, gave it a squeeze, and said, "Oh, C'mon Mom! It's HUMONGOUS!"

Brennan is funny these days. He has been grabbing things and swinging them around wildly with a look of utter concentration. He's also grabbing onto things and pulling himself toward them. (Like the poles on his floorpad or furniture.) Last night we watched him roll toward and try desperately to grab Kaeleb's sippy cup for about 10 minutes. Bren is packing on the poundage. He weighed in at 17 1/2 pounds this week at the doctor's. I almost fell over. 2 weeks ago he was 16 pds 2 oz. Apparently rice cereal isn't a diet food. His current obsession is rolling around with his legs straight up in the air.

Kwint went snowboarding yesterday with his friend Steve. He had so much fun and came back so happy. They did several runs and then played for along time in the terrain park. (Steve is Kaeleb's buddy Karter's dad, and my friend Shannon's husband.) He put sunblock on his face but not his neck. I found the result quite amusing.

It's finally warming up down here. While the guys were boarding, Shannon and I took the kids to the park, where they very much enjoyed themselves, with only one minor incident when Kaeleb "sprayed" Karter with some imaginary poison of sorts, which resulted in Karter "squashing" Kaeleb's head and "talking like he was mad." Boys are so awesome though, because stuff like that doesn't phase their friendship. They also played at Mikell's house. I have missed playing with my friends while the kids have been sick all winter.

We hope it was a nice week for all of you. I am loving seeing all of your blogs, this is really a nice way to stay in touch.

Holy crap! Your kids are like twins, but separated by a few years.

I think that Your second baby looks more like you Gina, and your oldest looks like Kwint, but you can still tell they are brothers. Funny how that works huh?

Its a funny thing to just stumble across a blog from a old friend that you have not seen in Years.

I can't get over how much Brennan looks like you. He is so cute. Don't kids say the funniest things. Chloe is starting to talk a lot, the things they come up with...

Oh Gina, I will be laughing at Kaeleb's little arugument for days! Tyler has been very stubborn in the put on his own pants category too(OK, every category). It is amazing how similar yet different your boys are. They are both adorable though. Dee
